Getting Started: Figuring It Out 

As was the case in chapter 8, “Interviewing,” congratulations are in order. Through your preparation, tenacity, research skills, and intellectual curiosity, you have landed your first job in social media. In chapter 1, “Making the Choice,” my former boss, Evan Kraus of APCO Worldwide, summed it up succinctly by stating that, since 1996, his job was and still is to “figure it out.” So what will you be figuring out? Just about everything.

You may note that I have taken us from the first interview to starting on a job and I skipped over things like salary negotiation. There are other books that address the finer points of interviewing and negotiation so I’ll cover just a few points.
